The NAVIGATOR software is the leading application for borehole planning and survey data management enabling engineers and geologists to plan and optimize well paths. NAVIGATOR provides fast, easy and better hole planning, whether the task is simple or complex. Plan for large exploration projects efficiently and generate drill reports as the boreholes progress while improving QA/QC.

Borehole Planning

Today, most directional-well planning is done on the computer. Modern computer technologies, such as 3D visualization and 3D earth models, have provided geoscientists and engineers with integrated and interactive tools to create, visualize, and optimize well paths through reservoir targets. Furthermore, recently developed directional drilling systems allow more-complex directional-well trajectories that are designed to optimize drilling programs to get more information out of less meters drilled. The 3D visualization together with the earth model allow detailed planning to maximize geological information gained from the drilling program as well as minimize the time, work and cost needed to obtain such information.

AZIWELL NAVIGATOR planning services

AZIWELL personnel can assist in borehole planning with the aim to maximize obtained geological info, while keeping the cost as low as possible, all done by experienced engineers who have extensive experience from directional drilling projects, working as a team with project geologists and the drilling company. Regardless if the aim is to intersect multiple targets from a limited location or master hole, follow a tunnel track or just keep a hole within given boundaries, we do our best to find the best solution for each individual project.
Additionally, AZIWELL can perform training courses on how to perform borehole planning independently.

Mineral exploration

Deviation control

Planning of corrections in drifting boreholes in highly deviated formations.

Geotechnical exploration and horizontal core drilling

Planning of drill holes starting from surface or underground and turning it horizontal or to a specific inclination and azimuth to intersect the ore body at a specific angle or reach targets that otherwise would be inaccessible.

Multiple branching

Planning of multiple branches from a single master hole to reduce the cost of transport drilling as well as coring and casings in the overlying formations. With proper planning there are virtually no limits of the number of branches you can have, thus the saving potential is considerable both money wise and for minimizing nature impact.

Civil applications

Geological pre-investigation for tunnels or caverns

Planning for drill holes starting from surface or underground that turn horizontal or follow a tunnel track. Thus providing crucial information about the geology along the planned route of the tunnel.

Pilot holes for raise bore and utility holes

Planning of pilot holes for later raise boring or hole opening to speed up penetration rates for other types of drilling in order to intersect underground tunnels or caverns

Producing accurate holes for freeze curtains

Planning of freeze curtains in tunnel or cavern projects, where each hole need to be within certain limits to each other to ensure that the curtain can solidify the formation properly.

Controlled slope drilling for sewage and water tunnels

Planning of bore holes for sewage or water tunnels that need to follow a specific path or slope to ensure positive gravity flow of water through the tunnel.

River-crossing applications

Planning of bore holes for pipelines that cross beneath rivers to install fiber-optic cables, power lines or other infrastructure.
